These tough & compact components are useful in a wide range of applications, such as the DC/DC converter topologies

• SEPIC, (single ended primary inductor converter) topology: Especially suitable for battery-electric equipment power supply or automotive applications


• CuK, (a type of buck-boost converter with zero ripple current)


• Zeta, (provides a positive output voltage from an input voltage that varies above and below the output voltage)

Other applications include:

• As transformers in flyback and multi-output buck converters


• In buck converters the coupled inductors also provide a second output voltage


• As common mode chokes in power supplies
